Rams bordered by VCU on the road, 1-0

Richmond, Virginia – (Oct 14, 2021) – Against the top 10 Atlantic team in the VCU Rams, the Fordham Rams stayed with the A-10 leader throughout the game, but it was a goal in the 37e minute by Emma Kershner who would put VCU ahead of Fordham, 1-0, on Thursday night at SportsBackers Stadium in Richmond, Va.

Maria o’sullivan was stable in goal for Fordham, making his first start of the season. She made three early saves to keep the game scoreless, but in the 37e minute, VCU scored the only marker of the match. Ella Higgins walked away from Fordham Danielle Etienne at the right edge of the box and crossed the ball in the middle. Emma Kershner then stole the ball inside the left post for her fourth goal of the season from 10 yards.

Fordham fought to the end and refused to concede another scorer, as O’Sullivan made three more saves for a total of six in the game, while in the final minute, Kendall dandridge ran a potential goal and cleared it off the line before it fell into the net.

Although Fordham failed on the scoreboard, the Rams recorded a record-breaking team drop on the night, as with his departure, Milan bornstein became Fordham’s all-time leader in matches played in 81 games, having played every game since the start of the 2017 season. She passed Brooke Salmon, who played 80 competitions from 2015 to 2018.

Fordham will be back on the pitch on Sunday, October 17e, as the team hosts Massachusetts for a 1 p.m. game at Jack Coffey Field.
