- Where to find every rod and every bait
- Catch common and uncommon fish
Role-playing and fishing go together like fish and chips, right? Or beer batter and cod. Shrimps and cocktail sauce. Salmon and… broccoli? zero trails wouldn’t give up fishing – not when Trails in the Sky sets it up so well. As a bonus this time around, our hero Lloyd makes the most painful fishing puns this side of bad stand-up comedy.
There are great rewards for catching one of each fish. Some, as you might expect, are much harder to find than others. You will need your rods, your bait and your wits. Oh, and this guide. You will need it too.
When it comes to how to fish in trails from zero, the answer is frankly as simple as what is written above. To be a bit more specific on this, three ellipses will appear above Lloyd’s head after casting. After the third ellipse, ‘HIT’ will eventually appear in colored letters. This is when you press a button to bring the fish back. Do it fast, or it will escape with your bait!
How to start fishing
During Chapter one, day onewhen the part is sent to Village of Armorica, progress through the main story events until the character in this screenshot appears on the town bridge. His name is Kopanand it will “hang up” with a Novice roda fishing log, plus two types of bait: ten Earthworms and ten Dumplings.
Kopan directs you to the fishing spot of Armorica Village. Anywhere with water and a blatant bubbly section (as seen below) is a fishing spot. Different fish can be caught in different places, although there is a lot of overlap for the most common species.
The fishing logbook and you
The Fishing logbook logs each new species of fish you catch, along with the number of times they’ve been caught, the record for the largest of its kind, and a nice little lore-based blurb below. There are 24 species of fish in Trails from Zero, a fact that can be discerned immediately by the number of locations in the logbook.
Consultation is key to remembering what you caught at any given time. Our guide can show you the way, but it’s up to you not to waste time chasing fish you’ve already “attacked”.
Where to find every rod and every bait
There are five fishing rods and ten types of baiteven though five of the baits are actually fish. Thus, you will have to catch certain types of fish, hook them to your rod and use them to catch some of the more elusive species.

Catch common and uncommon fish
This is where you’ll find all but the rarest fish, which deserve their own section.
The golden salmon, noble carpand snake head are all special and unique takes. Once you’re ready to go for Golden Salmon and Noble Carp, you’ll find them here:
Regarding the snake head, you can only catch it after returning the previous 23 fish. It is then that you will receive the Aquatic Wizard rod… but alas, no instructions on where to fish. Or what bait to use. The answer is the Ursula Road Estuarybut if that doesn’t mean anything to you, this should:
With the Serpenthead introduced, Lloyd becomes a top-class angler. In addition to all the rewards you’ve gotten along the way, don’t forget that you can exchange all your fish for sepith at one of the vendors on East Street. With everything you’ve caught up on so far, you might be surprised at how much it can earn you.
